Did a few miles today, well 72.7 to be precise!
Got to start building up the miles in preparation for 'Le Grand Depart' or as they say in Cornwall, The Grand Depart.
Today's route was undertaken in glorious spring sunshine, not much seen recently. Light winds, country lanes and depending upon which device you choose to believe, somewhere between 4,045 feet of climbing and 2,457 feet of climbing. Actually, both of those came from Garmin and were displayed on the same page for the same ride believe it or not. Strava has it at 2,863 and Map My Ride clocks it at 3,559. Beats me...
I did manage 250 miles last week, so that was decent and need to aim to build on that week by week or the sudden jump to 500 in a week will hurt a lot.
Today's ride went from Lewes up to Warninglid in Mid Sussex and back via quite a lot of places. Personally, I prefer these climbs in Mid Sussex to the more famous Beacon or Dyke as they are nowhere near as busy. Always feel on the Beacon that I can almost hear the audbile groan as car after car comes round a bend to find an old man on a bike in front of them going very slowly, whereas, going up Foxhole Lane and Colwood Lane, a 2.5 mile stretch going mostly uphill, I only had 1 car go past me. Better for all.
Also, this route today takes me through Warninglid, a village I don't think I had been through before starting this route and it is stunningly pretty. Also, some very lareg houses, nay, estates on the outskirts and off the middle of the village. Think I may need several lottery wins to live there.
Shorter rides planned for tomorrow and Thursday, probably about 40 odd, then another long one Friday and a couple of steady weekend rides.
300 miles target for this week?
