Thought I would go on some new roads today. Also thought, it's day 9 of my 10 day trial cycling everyday so lets see if we can find some new hills.
HOW STUPID CAN I BE??? I know it will be nothing compared to Cornwall and Devon, but some of those hills today were horrible!
Apasrt from that, lovely spring day for a ride and good one was had, just the hills.... I may not sleep tonight.
Starts off fine. Santana and Maria Maria from Supernatural running along nicely, off out through Barcombe, Newick, Fletching and then the start of some ups as I head towards Nutley. As I said, I have now been going 9 days on the trot, which for me is a lot, averaging just under 50 miles a day, so Nutley was OK which seemed good.
Carried on through Horsted Keynes and headed up to Ardingly, by now for some reason Jake Bugg has taken over in the head with his Lightening Bolt (?) and I don't even like him. At least it demonstrated the reject button worked, just no power over what came next. My head may be an iPod on shuffle.
Back to the puffing bit, bits of up and down, nothing too bad and then headed out of Ardingly towards the resevoir. Now, Sussex usually balances out, if you go up a bit you will come down and vice versa, so when you are bombing down a steep hill and you see a cyclist walking up the hill looking puffed, you know that there could well be some payback. Probably not a wise idea to lose momentum taking a photo at the bottom by the resevoir as the up was really quite steep. First time down into bottom gear and just head down, get to the top. No walking though.
There's another quite steep bit coming into Balcombe, where at least they have had the decency to hairpin the road a bit to reduce the gradient. Checking on the route tracker, it seems that these were about 10%, felt more.
After that, the hills were more steady, still enough of them as the Garmin said at the end of the ride we had done 3,900 feet of climbing (of course all other recording of the ride shows different numbers!).
The link below should take you to the track of the ride that has some photos on it as well. Let me know if it does or doesn't work.

Day 10 of 10 tomorrow, think I may make it a touch flatter. Come back to this ride in a few weeks, see how it feels then. Will be a good measure.
