Today was the tenth day on the trot that I have been riding, which is how the LEJOG starts, ten days non stop riding. UNlike the LEJOG, the tenth day today did not go on for 100 miles. That is for later.
Over the ten days, I have done 500 (well, 493) miles, averaging a tad under 50 miles a day, longest 73 and biggest climbing of 4,000 feet. Working on the basis that you train to between 66% and 75% of what you will do, this is on target. Yesterday has scared me a bit though as I found the steepness of those hills challenging, and these were only Sussex length. Cornwall, Devon and Scotland will all throw longer steep climbs at me. Oops, forgot Cheddar Gorge as well! More training needed.
Although, when I did find a hill or two today, they were fine. I suspect its as much in the head as the legs in getting yourself going again each day. Now, if only I knew someone who was studying Psychology....
Pretty uneventful ride today, apart from the grass snake crossing the road round the back of Barcombe.
Head worm for the day, Fun Boy Three and The Lunatics have taken over the asylum. Back to the state of mind I think.
