Was looking around this morning among the various courses I had saved for a 50 mile one, and had selected one that looked to meet the requirements. However, when loading it to the Garmin, noticed it was one where I had accidentally set the average speed as 6 mph, meaning that a lot of the stats that would come up during the ride would be totally meaningless. As a stats fan, that would be irritating. That prompted me to switch to another one on impulse and this one looked similar.

What I didn't realise until I turned right at the foot of Colwood Lane after 30 odd miles was that it was the one I had that takes me up a wall. Hey ho, it's good practice for Cornwall.

I am not sure if it was easier than before as it's a good couple of weeks since I did the route. What I can say for sure is that in the effort to get up the very steep (thankfully short bit) end of the climb the front wheel did lift momentarily off of the road such was the gradient and effort being put in.

Lovely day for a ride today, dry, almost warm and next to no wind. Spoilt the first part of it with an ELO earworm (their latest one, whatever it is called was on the radio as I dropped the car off at the garage this morning). Did manage to switch to Fat Les and Vindaloo which has to be one of the greatest football songs ever before I Am What I Am made an appearance so things went back downhill again then. The first and third choices won't be making it onto my cycling compilation that I amsure will be released on K-Tel records following the completion of the LEJOG.

Cycling tops have arrived from CRY and look good, just need to add some LEJOG details to them and they will be complete.

Strong Easterly wind forecast tomorrow and Thursday so will head out Hailsham way, meaning that the first half is into the wind.
