Are you superstitious? I guess I tip my hat to some superstitions without really believing in them, I always ask a Magpie how it is and it's family etc for example. Today, I ignored the ill fate that may be provided by Friday 13th.
As such, for those who are saying, 'oh no Mike, you shouldn't dismiss Friday 13th, woe is me etc.' you can be satisfied that when out for my ride today I had an instant puncture. That being the type of puncture where all the air goes out very quickly and you stop. Still, nice day to practice changing the inner. One cyclist went past and offered help, nice bunch cyclists.
While I was fixing the tyre, Robert Plant went off in my pocket (see previous days blog for explanation for why Robert Plant is going off in my pocket, I can't remember which one you need to read, just read them all), it was an email from CRY. I had asked if their patrons could help raise profile of the ride by retweeting some tweets as we get nearer the ride, but apparently they are ' inundated with requests for support of fundraising events' and as such would not be able to do that.
I am not really surprised about that, but then, isn't that part of what agreeing to be a patron for a charity is all about, helping those who are trying to raise funds for the charity raise those funds? Some of these people I have no doubt are very busy and are great people having supreme expertise in their field, but there are some who I am sure could find the time to help and may be grateful for someone thinking that they are still a celebrity. We are strange the way we handle the fame and notoriety of people.
I will regroup, and reply and see what and how I may manage to get some assistance from the charity I am working to help. This at the moment sits alongside Team SKY who can't help support or donate a prize, British Cycling likewise and Chandlers BMW who have spent their budget for the year, but them keep inviting me to weekend sales events! Is the time for individual fund raising efforts over and we have to
Am I moany today?
These things usually go in threes, so I am now looking round corners waiting for Friday 13th to play out....and it did, the computer crashed, but thankfully this was saved as draft!! Or was it leaving the meat on too high so it over cooked, or the really rough wind we are having tonight blowing things over, or is it the Brighton goalie saving the wrong ball, or is it still to come?
Tomorrow, maybe.
