More 'Sponsors for a day' found

Sometimes something is just meant to be. Taking the application for postal ballots to the council today and bumped into an old friend briefly. Then saw him again on the way back chatting with someone else and end up with a new 'Sponsor for a Day' for day 1. Turns out he knows Helen and Steve so was very willing to help out. Fine man Kevin, many thanks and I will definitely meet up for a beer in July to discuss what fun the ride was.

It will be fun. Keep telling yourself, half the battle is in the mind.

Then, just starting off on the ride to Proper to drop the bike off for a quick tickle, and get a phone call from Johnny H who was joining on the Edinburgh leg, but is now joining three or four days earlier to avoid riding with me having gone bonkers! Anyway, JH more than happy for his new firm to take up the sponsorship for the last day. There are some great people mout there and I am proud to say I seem to know more than a few of them.

Another spectacular couple, Nickj and Geoff/. I have been responsible for poor Nick (well, maybe not too much sympathy or he will expect it all the time) baking cakes like mad on his birthday. Picture shows some of the results, so a visit to the cake stall on Nevill Green this Saturday is becoming a must. I think I may need to perform some quality control. Has to be done.

Short ride today to drop the bike off as I said, but was surprised as whilst warmj, I hadn't realised it was road meltingly warm, but some roads were sticky. I don't want sticky roads. Am I getting picky now?

Also, Sussex Express will have a story this Friday on the ride, with photo, so had to pose. Did I remember to suck stomach?

Also, on the riding, looked today for JH when he was asking about other days and registered that yesterdays 82 miles is longer than all bar 3 stages of the LEJOG, which was reassuring as was having a slight ocnfidence wobble.

All in all a good day.

Off to 'the Pool' tomorrow, collect Ruth and back Wednesday so probably no blog tomorrow. Can you survive?

It was Poynings church.
