Oh my goodness

Well, there's a lot to tell.

The Yacht Inn very helpfully opened their kitchen 30 minutes early so we could get an early breakfast and it was just as well we saved that half hour or we would have been riding in the dark. Was nearly dark anyway.

How so I hear you ask. Well, as you will have seen from the pictures, Lands End was a whiteout. I love the video of Stewart and me riding into the mist up a no entry road.

The first 20 miles weren't at all bad. Made reasonable time, didn't get lost or too wet. Round the back of Penzance we did see a sight from the past. Proper old cart, two horses, dog and what in the nicest sense of the word I can only describe as two tinkers. We exchanged comments on the weather.

Probably the highlight of the day was when my balls dropped off and Stewart ran them over. Still work though.

After meeting up outside Hayle, where the wonderful Helen and Steve arrived with food and drink, we headed off. Garmin then threw us a curved ball and we had to vary the route as the road wasn't there. Second time, the road was a farm track, another detour. Still pressed on and arrived just a bit late for lunch. St Erme not that great so had it in the car.

Third leg, really smooth, but getting wetter. Met for last time and both said as we set off that we were cold, so let's just crack on up the A30. Busy, but good progress until roadworks that banned cyclists. That was with about 12 miles to go, and it took us 2 hours with diversions and hill after hill after hill. 6,900 feet of climbing today as a result, 84 miles, 6 more than planned. Whilst beautiful, coming across the top of Bodmin moor when very wet drains you, and it was two drowned rats who made it to the wonderful Jamaica Inn at 7.45.

Nearly 10 hours. No-one can say this is easy!
