An alternative ride maybe...

Away on a family holiday at present in Oregon. There is a well established cycle track down the Oregon coast. It is shorter at 370 miles, 16,000 feet of elevation and bikes actually have priority over cars and trucks, allegedly. Some of the 16,000 is really quite sharp, and beautiful, and you see quite a lot of cyclists fully panniered up which adds to their challenge. Haven't seen many road bikes doing it, mostly tourers and hybrids with three gearsets to handle the weight and ascents, but there are some more eccentric bikes......such as the one in the picture.
Good luck to them. Think for now I will stick to the bike in the Gym at the hotel.
Now, must get onto sorting screening dates for our effort. I've said that before, but in the holidays it's quieter with colleges.
